Not every family photo session needs to be done in a park. Sometimes it is really great to mix it up and do something a little out of the box. These photos were taken in Canby on the tracks. Don't worry there were not any trains coming. ![]() The main thing I love about being a family photographer is capturing a little crazy and those little moments that so often occur when no one's looking. Those are my favorites! When my customer put her son on top of Daddy's shoulders magic just happened. Of course, I'm not really sure that Dad was thrilled about silliness that ensued but that sweet little face looking down at Dad and little bit of crazy is what I was looking for. I like to get the photos with smiles too!

This month has been a busy one. I have had senior sessions, family sessions, and been working on my first ever Mini Session offering. Coming to Happy Valley Station in just a few days, I have had the pleasure to collaborate with Jami Platz of Platz Photography on this super cute idea! We have grown tired of the poorly lit images that many school carnivals offer to us at an inflated price. We want really cute, well done photographs of our kids! What are two photographers to do about this issue, offer them ourselves of course. One of my favorite parts of owning my own business is to find really amazing non profits and partner with them to raise awareness about their cause and to donate. I first heard about Embrace Oregon at a benefit last spring. I was moved almost to tears by all of the testimonials. Do you know Embrace organizes volunteers that sit and play at DHS with new foster children while the case worker is finding a placement for them? They offered scholarships to foster kids so that they are able to do things like go to camp. Now they have a program called Fortify that supports vulnerable families so that they grow stronger and can function in a way that supports their children, so they do not end up in the foster care system. We will have more information about them in our booth and you can select the link below for more information now. http://www.embraceoregon.org/ Select the Harvest Minis page to book your session and receive $5.00! ![]() We are offering a FREE session for FOSTER FAMILIES on Friday October 21st from 5:30-7:30! If you are foster parent I would love to see you there! If you prefer to prebook your appointment email me at lori@loribestphotography.com I can't wait to see you all there! I had scheduled my senior session on Friday to be indoors. The forecast, rain 100%. Bummer as my client has to have her yearbook photo turned in on Friday. On my way back to the studio what do I see? A sun break! I can't believe my luck! I have to call her and have her meet me at one of my favorite locations, Eastbank Esplanade. Not only did it not rain but it seemed like every where I went the sun illuminated her perfectly. I had brought all of my lighting gear with me and needed none of it. We spent the morning wandering around the Water Avenue and the PDX city view. We may have even stopped for a coffee, ![]() This senior certainly rocked her session! Congratulations class of 2017. One more images. I might be a little obsessed with this next one. It's kind of a non traditional photo but I just can't get enough of it. Look at that crazy sky and my amazing model. Thanks for choosing Lori Best Photography for your senior photos! |
