Digital, digital, digital....I get this question all of the time as a Happy Valley photographer. Why can't I just have all of my digital files? I have to admit I thought about it when I first started my business and I do offer packages that are a mixture of both digital files and prints. It is upon delivering the final wall art, prints, or albums that truly makes me my thrilled with my job. Knowing that I am giving my customers something they will truly treasure and I love seeing their face when they see the final product. I just can not get that with a digital file.
Let me ask you this...when was the last time you took out that old CD Rom or flashdrive and looked at your family, wedding, or high school senior photos? Did you have the best of intentions of creating an album or ordering prints when you received them? I know I always did. Oh wait, does your current computer even have a CD Rom drive? Or what about your old computer...has it ever crashed and burned taking your treasured photos with it? The forms of digital delivery have changed so much over the years. But then there is print. Print products are forever. Tangible. Hanging on the wall to make you to smile. Reminding you of that special moment or significant time in your life, your child's life, or a treasured loved one. I love curling up on the couch with my kiddos with a cup of tea, and thumbing through our family session photo albums. They delight in seeing themselves and us in the photos. I know the family heirlooms that I have created will be around for generations to come and it means a lot to me that my girls will be able to share them with their families one day.

The bond between brother and sister is a sweet one to watch as there is no stronger bond than the bond between siblings. Siblings are so often our first best friends...and to our parents dismay often our first enemies too occasionally. LOL! We grow up with them and most likely spend more time with them then with anyone else. They know us better than anyone else.
I love when I have the opportunity to see first hand the closeness of that bond. It is just another reason why I love my job as a Happy Valley photographer so much. I get to capture these connections, creating beautiful photographs to be displayed in album layouts, or on a wall display for you and your kids appreciate for years to come. I love fall family portraits. The colors of autumn, the warm clothing starting to come out, the smell of the fresh air with just that little bit of chill in it and there are a lot of really great parks right here in Happy Valley and SE Portland that are simply perfect for family photographs. ![]() I also love watching those little moments unfold between all or some members of the family when they do not think I am paying attention. Those moments, when you have relaxed and let down your guard, those are the moments that make my job so special. What are some of your favorite photographs? Do they have that genuine smile? Is it the memory you had while creating it? Does it make you feel something? I like my clients to leave with something that makes them smile that they can display in their home. Whether that be an album, several prints, or a canvas enlargement. This Clackamas High School Senior knew exactly what she wanted for her Senior photos right down to the little details. She has a great sense of style which must run in the family because her Mom looked perfectly put together too. She even chose the perfect eye make up to bring out her gorgeous eyes. We choose two locations for this photoshoot, one dreamy and romantic and the other a field of sunshine. Both reflect her bubbly and glamorous personality perfectly! ![]() I love my job so much! It is so much fun to get to know my Seniors and help them truly shine in their photographs. I love chatting with them during our hair and makeup session and learning what makes them laugh and their plans for the future. It truly makes a difference in my photographs that they trust me and know they look amazing. ![]()
It's Senior Portrait time and I am loving it! One of the most common questions I get asked is what should I wear?
First of all, I like to suggest bringing at least 3 complete outfits and by complete I mean shoes, hats, sunglasses, jewelry, etc. It's okay to bring a lot. We can always scale back. All of the details matter. Make sure all of your clothing is pressed and hanging. Do not bunch it all up in your backpack. We don't want to remember your wrinkles forever. Lol. This year I am offering professional make up with all of my sessions. It really makes a difference to have a professional that knows what kind of make up looks the best on camera applying it for you. My talented make up artist, Kelli Thomsen, was just featured in Oregon Bride. How exciting! She really knows how to do it all. Whether you like a glam look or something more natural, we've got you covered. I love to spend my time chatting with you while you are getting your makeup done. Getting to know my clients really helps you feel relaxed and comfortable with me. If you are comfortable and confident you will really shine in your photographs. That's what I want. I want you to be pampered, confident, and to feel really beautiful. Your photos will be fantastic! Would you like more styling tips? Enter your email information for a link to my Style Guide. ![]() This is the first year I put together a senior model team. They were such a fun group of girls and from different local area high schools. I was so impressed by how quickly they were having fun, joking, and laughing with each other. Hooray for Class of 2018! We started our day off at Sublime Clothing boutique in Happy Valley. We shopped the boutique for a couple of hours trying on different looks. We finally decided on one daytime and one evening. Styling was completed by Rose Jubb, professional wardrobe stylist. Then we headed over to Kelli Thomsen's SE Portland studio to complete the looks with hair and makeup. Our theme for our shoot was Boho Chic. She exceeded my expectations for high school senior styling with her inspiration looks. The girls excitedly picked them out. Each look was only complete with fake eyelashes a must have for every 70's inspired photo shoot. Once hair and makeup was completed and these Clackamas and Sherwood High School senior girls were dressed in their first look. Our first stop was a park in SE Portland. The park could not have been a more beautiful setting and complimented our daytime look beautifully. Next we headed off to Oregon City. The downtown area is so cute. I had researched a couple of alleys that are perfect for that urban look if you are not wanting to go all the way downtown Portland. I can't image 4 more perfect models for my team. I can not wait to work more with all of you! Awe, siblings. What more can I say? These two are just adorable. When their mom asked if I could was accepting siblings for my Little Red Riding Hood session, I had to say, "Of course!" I had no idea they would be such a fun team to work with. ![]() This little guys was hesitant to wear the timeless little flat cap that I had purchased for the shoot at Mt. Talbert Nature Park in Clackamas. His Mom may or may not have bribed him and once he was wearing it he was completely content and agreeable, making all sorts of adorable faces and smiles just for me and my camera. ![]() We spent the session wandering the trail, playing dress up, and eating apples along the path located just outside of Happy Valley behind Sunnyside Rd. If you have not been to Mt. Talbert, you should go. It is truly a beautiful, easy little hike with plenty to see. Their is even a little bridge over a creek. I can not wait until next spring's fairy tale stylized children's photo session. I am already working on the details! It has been a joy and an honor to be able to capture the moments and create a photography experience that the children truly love to be a part of. Do you go to Clackamas, Oregon City, LaSalle, Sandy, or Putnam High School? Are you currently a high school junior and involved in school activities? I can hardly wait to see these two tie the knot! Young love....it just burns so brightly and passionately. It's enthusiasm is contagious. These two wanted their engagement photos to be taken at Mt. Tabor Park in SE Portland as it was the location where they rekindled their relationship and fell in love. Months of long walks and watching the sunset over the reservoir and the Portland cityscape. Isn't that the sweetest? ![]() I love watching my kids play dress up. They just love it so much. Their little faces light up each time they put on a different dress, hat, or other accessory. They also adore stories. I want to expand on that! I created a stylized kids session that is equipped with all of the costume and story telling elements that children cherish but also have some vintage looking props that Moms love. These storytelling sessions will be more than just a photo. They will be an opportunity for kids to do what they do best...pretend and play while I will be capturing the moment and creating photos that are worthy of this fleeting time of their life. Session are limited. I only have 12. Have you booked your session yet? If not, select the Mini Session on my page. |
