One evening I was sitting on my front porch chatting with my neighbor, a foster mom, after I had take some photographs of her newborn foster daughter. Her simple comment, "Someone needs to be documenting these kids lives," was like an arrow to my heart. I thought, you are right. I should be the one to document them.
My neighbor recommended me several months later to another foster parent who wanted photos of her foster son taken. She told me a story about a 15 year-old foster girl that had no pictures of herself as a child. As a photographer and a mom, I found this heartbreaking. These vulnerable children deserve to have their lives recorded. I felt inspired to do so and I have been documented them every since. If you are a foster parent, please contact me for more information on how I can help you create memories for your child. I would love to provide professional images to add to your little or, not-so-little, one's LifeBook. |
